In addition to regular play, Winton hosts a number of corporate, civic and charity golf outings each year, offering very attractive group rates and full services including meals when desired. Winton has also been selected to host PGA and USGA qualifying events, including several PGA Playing Ability Tests (PAT’s), the 1994 Women’s Southern Amateur, and in 2007 was one of the sites for qualifying for the Virginia State Amateur.
The golf course is open to the public year round, weather permitting. In good weather, tee time reservations are strongly recommended. Winton is easily accessed via US Route 29 and VA Route 151 from Lynchburg (approximately 20 miles), Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Lexington and Staunton (all approximately 45 miles or less). And the course is within a day’s drive (including golf) from Danville, Roanoke and Richmond. Click on the Directions link for details.
Rates for greens fees and carts vary depending on the season and day of the week, and are very competitive with other courses in the Central Virginia area. Promotional rates are offered from time to time, including our annual Winter Special which runs from November 1st through mid-March. Click on the Rates link for details.
In addition to a great golf course, Winton Country Club offers full membership packages that include fine dining facilities, club rooms, an excellent Olympic size swimming pool, and four tennis courts. For the past two years, Winton has been running a very aggressive membership campaign, resulting in over 150 new memberships to date. This, at a time when most clubs have been struggling to maintain existing levels.
